Cooking Class

Located within the Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hot Springs, guests will have the opportunity to embark on a unique culinary journey and immerse themselves in the authentic Costa Rican cuisine at Rancho Don Lelo. After a short hike through the hotel’s forest reserve alongside a knowledgeable naturalist guide, guests will arrive at the Don Lelo Farm.
Upon arrival, guests will be warmly welcomed with a refreshing drink made from freshly squeezed sugar cane juice and lemon. Accompanied by a guide, guests will have the chance to harvest their own sugar cane and participate in the juice extraction process using a traditional press. The farm is home to various seasonal crops including yuca, corn, and plantains, allowing guests to interact and learn about local agriculture.

The cooking class will make use of the ingredients harvested at the farm, and guests will be guided by a local chef. During the class, participants will have the opportunity to roast their own selected coffee beans, learn how to make traditional tortillas with cheese, and create hash browns using yuca. This hands-on experience will empower guests to discover the flavors and techniques that make Costa Rican cuisine unique.

This culinary experience lasts for four hours and is available once a day with prior reservation. Whether you are a food enthusiast or simply looking to explore the local culture, the cooking class at Rancho Don Lelo promises to be an unforgettable and enriching experience for all guests staying at the Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hot Springs.
