Chachagua Rainforest Hotel & Hacienda is a working ranch, surrounded by it’s own Biological Station. In total, we have almost 100 hectares (about 300 acres)
We became self-sufficient, that means, most of the produces used in the kitchen are grown and taken from the farm , as the eggs, milk(cheese, butter, sour cream are homemade), herbs, tomatoes, lettuce, yucca, plantains and other crops grow here.
We also are installing a bio-digestor, in order to produce the Metan Gas to cook with.
We produce organic fertilizer from the residuals from the kitchen (compost)
Now, we started with a reforestation program, involving our guest and school kids in it. Our goal is to plant more than 500 trees per month, using only natives species.

We are very excited to announce the Chachagua Rainforest Hotel has been awarded the Certificate of Sustainable Tourism! This certificate is provided under the Ministry of Tourism of Costa Rica and approved by the National Accreditation Committee. This certificate signals the commitment of the Chachagua Rainforest Hotel to be a proper steward of nature, to protect and promote the local cultures and to improve the quality of life of the surrounding communities. The certificate is achieved after a very thorough inspection of the property is completed based on 250 different criteria. We are very proud to be the recipient of this certificate!
