The property where the Chachagua Rain Forest Hotel is nestled is an area of 100 hectareas (247 acres); half is a primary reserve of tropical rain forest and the other half is used as farmland for agriculture and livestock where the hotel is located.
This land was acquired in 1985 by Mr. Carlos Salazar, a pioneer in the development of tourism and the hotel industry in Costa Rica. For years it was used as a farm for his family’s leisure and recreation, but always looking forward to the development of a hotel so that others could share this tropical paradise which today is the Chachagua Rain Forest Hotel.
After retiring from his business in San Jose, Mr. Salazar decides to open the hotel in 1992 with 15 rooms, upgrading it to the 31 beautiful rooms available today and since then, has lodged thousands and thousands of tourists who have fallen in love with this magical place, deserving a preferred space in Patricia Schultz’s book of travel: “1,000 Places to See Before You Die” and be featured in the main Tourist Guides such as Lonely Planet y Let´s Go?.
Most of the staff who works at the hotel belongs to the nearby towns of San Isidro and Chachagua, assuring our guests a warmer and more personalized service, all of which sets us apart from the rest of hotels in the area.
